Syntagma Media weights in on blog Google Pagerank updates and finds it good, overall

Although my Webmetricsguru.com blog lost 2 points in Pagerank, my Artnewyorkcity.com blog gained one point, now a Pagerank 5, and my other blogs were largely unaffected by the seismic (not seesmic) changes in Pagerank that occurred in October when Google decided to crack down on text linking and interlinking from blogs, particularly within blog networks.

Now, John Evans, who I write for on Syntagma, weighs in on what the overall effect of Google's corrections were in October and finds them, "Good" for blogging.

Interesting.

"…What seems to be happening is that Google has caught up with the decline in blogs and blogging and is re balancing its system to account for the over-ranking of many dull and uninteresting sites.

The perception has also been out there for some time that blogs in general have been using crafty methods of making money. Text links are seen by Google to be optimization aids for getting a false PR. In many cases, of course, they’re more like the classified ads in newspapers — just someone selling something.

After a lot of consideration, and a recent steady uptick in our network income, Syntagma has reached the conclusion that this may be a good thing — with some reservations, namely, the unpredictability of the process. "

In a way, I'm happy with the arrangement I have with Syntagma too, which will allow me to own Artnewyorkcity.com in a couple more months.

Meanwhile, I hope to have a lot of content, of the more "artistic" type to publish to Artnewyorkcity.com next week - whereas, I'll try to focus my technological observations about Paris and LeWeb3 here.

If I get a chance, I might even do a post or two to Smartmobs.com and of course, I'm now developing my new blog, www.my-metrics.com which will merge all the aspects of my blogging with my personal approach to metrics.
