OK, I finally booked my airline and hotel tickets to next month's LeWeb3 07 conference in Paris, France. Maybe, the only glitch is a problem everyone has to be concerned about - French press on with rail strike but hopefully, it will be settled by the time of the LeWeb3 Conference in 24 days - and I'm leaving 3 weeks from today. BTW, I've written a couple of posts about LeWeb3 that you can read here.
"…The French transport strike will continue over the weekend after workers voted to press on with the action.
But there were some indications that it was losing momentum - a fewer than a third of train drivers struck on Friday, down from 60% in the first full day of walkouts on Wednesday.
Unions with members in both the national rail operator, SNCF, and the Paris transit authority RATP agreed to press on with the strike to at least Monday."
A French Rail Strike that was still going on three weeks from now would make it really, really hard to get over to the conference in Les Docks, towards the outskirts of Paris - that you really need the trains for - unless you have a car.
But my feeling is a rail strike is unlikely to last 3 weeks - the financial impact to large cities would suggest that a week to 10 days is more likely.
Here's a recent Press Conference Clip for LeWeb3 07 that took place a few days ago, BTW:
