The Blog Squad

Sometimes my Google Alert on "blog analysis tools" brings up interesting finds - sorta like fishing up new and interesting ventures in a vast Web Ocean - lately there's not been much interesting but today I got an alert on a company called "The Blog Squad" - and I haven't seen a service as attractively priced, as they are, for what they do, yet.

Want to learn how a professional blog can help you create expertise and credibility on the Web?

The Blog Squad, Patsi Krakoff, Psy. D., and Denise Wakeman offer blog services. Visit this page to learn more about blogs"

Personally, if I were them,  I'd make a new domain name (maybe call it the "blogsquad.com" if its' not taken yet) or even do "blogsquad.biz" instead of putting the service as a page off of www.customizednewsletters.com - but that's just me.

What I like about the service is they'll work with you for a month and help you revamp a blog that's going nowhere (or whose growth is not what you want it to be) and that seems like it's worth 900 dollars.

In fact, I've seen similar kinds of services marketed in different forms, more for corporate, costing double or triple what their costs when I've attended Search Engine Strategies and Ad-Tech Conferences in New York City.

One suggestion - The Blog Squad should start going to more Search Engine Conferences, blogging conferences, things like that - to promote what they do - as it's an intersting approach - sorta like a blog coach.  In their case, there's the big Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose in a couple of weeks - that would be a good venue for them to be at, advertised in, maybe even get a booth in - simply because it goes with the audience.

Bear in mind however, that Main Stream Media lately is moving on from Blogs and Second Life - ever looking for the next thing.  Not to worry, in a couple of months they'll be back again - but it's important in any kind of publicity to key in what you sell to the popular needs of the moment.

In that light - a Blog Coaching Service, is attractive - but I would add another thing to the mix, perhaps blog traffic monitoring, influence monitoring - something more than Coaching … they may need an additional thing to promote that measures the blog effectiveness at SES - a third leg to peg their service on.

I know for blogs, you have really read a lot of other blogs on your subjects of interest and be ready to be part of the conversation.  Many people who have blogs are simply not into that kind of conversation - and that's going to make it difficult to build a real audience that you can sustain past the initial coaching that you might get from a service like The Blog Squad.

Also, I'd trademark that term "The Blog Squad" if it's possible - and do business under it - just some friendly advice.   Too many domains, too many fractured services takes away from a better evaluation of what they have to offer.

And this post is not a Sponsored Review of The Blog Squad - I have absolutely no connection with them - but I would like to see good people succeed and The Blog Squad seems like a good service and a good deal, from what I can see.

Your comment about companies returning to blogging in a few months as currently they are in search of the latest social media technology was not lost on me. I think sometimes people’s eyes get a little too big for their stomach and companies try to do too much when concentrating resources on one or two social media technologies can reap a lot of results. Having said that if you do work on providing resources to each social media technology I think you can succeed. With services like the Blog Squad even through they concentrate on blogs I think it is becoming more important to look across all social media. What processes do you think someone should use to determining what is the best social media technology for a particular company?

Marshall:

I actually met the ladies you reference here when they were in NYC for BlogHer back in March. I didn’t go to the conference, but I was at the drinks Friday night with the rest of the gang from my corner of the ’sphere.

If you get a chance, I did a follow up post on blogging and Facebook (as the representative of new social networking tools) at my blog — there’s a nice conversation going on about it http://www.conversationagent.com/2007/07/facebook-aint-f.html

Thanks, WebMetrics Guru (sigh… what’s your name? I don’t see it anywhere on your blog!!!)- sorry, it’s just one of my pet peeves when I can’t find the blog author’s name easily!!! Thanks so much for your kind words and suggestions; we always like to hear that kind of feedback done so respectfully and with good intentions! Yes, we do have our name trademarked but couldn’t get the blogsquad.com domain, only blogsquad.biz. We try to go to conferences where are clients are (not search engine attendees): like where authors, speakers, and professional conferences. We’ve been to a few blogging conferences like BlogHer - Denise is there this week - but guess what? Our clients are ones who don’t go to blogging conferences! Blog coaching, blog makeovers, blog critiques, and this week a small advanced business blogging group workshop via teleseminar: (www.theblogsquad.net/BBB) that would be what we’re all about. Bringing the power of blogs to small businesses so they can attract clients and grow their businesses. In the end, it’s not about the blog: it’s all about business results. We try to make that happen. Again, thanks for the mention, Mr. WebMetrics Guru!

Hi Marshall, thanks for the write up and positive feedback. In fact we’re in the process of moving all our blog related services to blog related domains. As Patsi said above, we do use http://www.blogsquad.biz as our hub site with links to our blogs, products and services.

We’ve been operating as The Blog Squad for nearly 3 years and are very active in the blogosphere, at conferences, with teleseminars and have produced many blogging products.

Thanks again for commenting on our business.
