I am a little late in writing this post - it's Father's Day today and I meant to write it about 4 or 5 days ago, but that's life - which is moving much faster these days for me.
Father's Day for me is more informal, nothing special planned. I'm actually trying this post out to see what kind of Father's Day traffic I'll catch, by writing about it on Father's Day. I did very well with SpiderMan 3 when I wrote about the movie in April.
I did see the Fantastic Four on Friday since I used to read the Silver Surfer comics as a kid and I thought they were quite good (then). The movie was OK, but got tiresome at the end, plus the end was not believable (if your read the comics). Actually Susan Gunelius wrote a post about Give Dad Jessica Alba for Father's Day which is quite good, actually. I would not mind having Jessica Alba for Father's Day (although she seems too young for the role of Sue Richards). Also, for Gifts, Bill Below of Rising Sun of Nihan tells about what Father's really want for Father's Day in Four Best Selling Father's Day Gifts.
Getting back to my own Father's Day, I have a 14 year old son, so Father's Day for me, is kinda about that (my own Father passed away over 30 years ago). In a spiritual sense - there are painters who kinda have "fathered" (so to speak) my perception of Art, mainly Paul Cezanne, Edward Manet and Eugene Delacroix.
In Web Analytics, I can't say there's anyone I look at as a Father figure because the field is still so young, people now in Web Analytics are more like innovators, if you will like Jim Sterne, Eric T. Peterson, Avinash Kaushik, etc...Web Analytics is really even a younger field than SEO/SEM (which is coming into it's own and maturing as an advertising medium).
Anyway, today will be a quiet day - mostly catching up on a bunch of work for clients that I let slip with my Trip to France earlier this month.
