I was alerted to an interesting conference about and in Second Life that is going to be taking place shortly after I return from France, over at Colombia University; it's called The Economics and Business of Second Life and Virtual Worlds.
June 15th, 2007 - Colombia University - here's the meeting notes:
"…Although the meeting will be a "real" meeting, half of the proceedings will be hosted online in the Virtual Reality of "Second Life." The Conference Board Telecommunications Council will be assisted by IBM, which is already building a business by providing companies such as Sears and Circuit City with online "virtual" stores inside Second Life. "
"….This is the first CITI/Conference Board meeting that is a true hybrid between 'real life' and the reality of 'virtual worlds. By having half of the meeting in Second Life, we will be joined by experts from as far away as Finland, Japan, Malaysia, Scotland, Germany, Chile, and France. These remote participants will be presenting both videos and slides within the IBM's virtual facility. All participants worldwide will be linked together via a telephone teleconferencing system. "
I have Rsvpd but not sure yet which part of me will show up - my Avatar in Second Life or me, at Columbia University.
Judging from the attendees and the subject (and I'm not really sure if everyone on the list is going to be physically present) I feel I should attend.
