Well, I've finally seen it - www.Code4Software.com production an Analytics Package for Second Life called V-Tracker and it's nothing less than fantastic. I don't have any screen shots that I can show yet, but I was very impressed with what I saw. In fact, in my Interview with Jared Freedman "Ancient Shriner" of Code4Software I mentioned that Code4Software.com might have the best package for Second Life Analytics - it does. In fact, Code4Software may have the only real analytics package to date.
I mentioned some what Code4Software's metrics package could do in my earlier post, now I want to talk about a few specifics.
Except for Jared, people I spoke with last week at the Virtual Worlds 2007 Conference were vague and non-specific about metrics for Second Life - Jared was quite clear about what V-Tracker could do and allowed me to take a look tonight - it's a full blown Web Analytics Package for Second Life and it's ready to deploy right now.
Deployment of V-Tracker Software Second Life Analytics/Metrics Package requires:
1. Deployment of a set of Sensors - that's it! Everything else is done by Code4software.com platform which is running SQL 2005 64 Bit on Dual Core 2.6 GHZ Servers running Windows 2003 Server.
2. Three hours to deploy the package on your SIM.
The sensors are really the equivalent of Javascript tags that we use in traditional Web Analytics for Data Collection. Jared showed me the data collection on a SIM and was able to brake down the number of visits, number of Unique Visitors, the Average Time per visit as well as many detailed stats for each Avatar that visited the Sim and each object in the Sim.
I spoke to everyone I could at the conference last week, anyone that would have a package like Electric Sheep Company and Rivers Run Red. No one had full blown Web Analytics Package for Second Life - except Jared Freeman.
www.Code4Software.com 's Second Life Metrics package is able to handle an almost unlimited number of Avatar's without buckling under the load or miss capturing data - Jared pointed out that very busy Sims might have data that's lost because even if your able to capture some of the data his package provides; the Second Life environment is so data intensive it needs a mainframe to store a data warehouse - something ideal for a computer services company like IBM, that makes Mainframes and large Servers.
Jared was quick to point out that his Second Life Metrics Package might best run on Big Blue's servers.
One of the things that has been holding back more use of Second Life for advertising, branding and lead generation is the lack of a good metrics package for Second Life - Code4Software has the package - I've seen it personally - and it' true - it's fully functional and takes about 3 hours to install in any SIM.
Who would use V-Tracker Web Analytics package for Second Life? Someone who needed to show the Return on Investment for Second Life project development.
Jared is not aiming his Second Life Metrics package for any mom and pop operation - he's focused on larger corporations - companies that need to justify investment in Second Life.
As I get to work with Jared Freedman a little more - I'll be able to reveal more about Code4Software's Second Life Web Analytics and Metric package.
Stay Tuned.
