Cymfony sold to Taylor Nelson Sofres - arms with TNS Media Intelligence

Micro Persuasion reports that Cymfony, a social media market intelligence and research firm based out of Watertown, MA, is being bought by UK-based research giant Taylor Nelson Sofres according to paidContent.org.

"…This continues the consolidation in this social media analytics sector: BuzzMetrics bought Intelliseek last year and itself was majority-sold to Nielsen."

I think this news is significant because there's not that many well known social media analytics (if you want to call companies that measure "blog buzz") out there and Cymfony was one of the most well known blog/buzz measurement firms.

Hmm… Nielsen bought Intelliseek last year - maybe the idea was to merge broadcast audience measurement with social and blog network measurement.  If that's so, the purchase of Cymfony by TNS is a further confirmation on the consolidation strategy.
