I also met with Marian Sabety of YFonGlobal, a Washington DC company that created a Social Network Marketing Platform called WindStorm. It's almost as if YFonGlobal provides a toolbox, so to speak, that allows a company to build and support their social networks.
Point being - you think of what kind of experience you want your customers / social network to have and how your customers typically interact with your brand - and that information is the beginning point to working with YFonGlobal - and now the WindStorm product. Here's some highlights of what the WindStorm platform provides:
• Turn-key social network applications to enhance web-based programs.
• IP BBX features for both consumer and business applications
• Mil-Spec encrypted VoIP services
• Online promotions with online ads, content push, podcasting.
• Interactive programs such as chat, gaming, push-to-talk.
• File exchange, including photo, audio, or video files.
• Online communities for posting, forums, blogging, galleries, etc.
• Online collaboration, including shared calendars, planning, files, itineraries.
• Calling services such as custom calling rates, conference, broadcast, voice mail.
• Hosting wholesale switch services such as VoIP, WiFi, VPN, network encryption
Was impressed with what I heard, which sounds perfect for Music Marketing - especially with supporting a musician's fan base and allowing peer to peer communication. I don't think it works as well for visual artists - but that's not the fault of the platform, it's more that visual artists don't tend to use viral marketing and social networking as much as Musician's have.
