Reddit was just aquired by Wired Magazine.
In other acquisition news today, Techcrunch reported that Condé Nast, owner of Wired and other magazines/websites, has acquired Boston-based Reddit. I pinged Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian about this and he confirmed to me that they have been acquired, "for an undisclosed sum".
.........The PR notes too that Reddit now has over one million unique users a month. Plus Wired’s parent company, Condé Nast, has already used Reddit technology to launch a beta site, Lipstick.com, for the social filtering of celebrity news.
Reddit’s technology will be used by Condé Nast to "unleash the power of the many communities touched by Condé Nast to enhance our Web sites by highlighting news that matters to them,” said Sarah Chubb, President of CondéNet, the online division of Condé Nast.
I wonder what the true number of visitors to Reddit per month is....wish I had something like HitWise - could probably figure it out that way.
Using Compete.com - well now we know why Compete.com is not accurate:

So, Compete.com is no better than any other service - don't go to the bank with any of that stuff. Quantcast is even further off - it only 20K Uniques a month.
Someone is way off...I'd trust Reddit on this one anyday.

Nooooo this sucks :( I loved reddit the way it was.
