A new book on Google Analytics just came out about 2 weeks ago - saw a copy at a local Barnes and Noble and will but it soon. I’m so backlogged on books to look at and review I don’t want to just buy any book that looks good….but this book on GA looks pretty good - and explains a lot about Google Analytics.
In fact, the first two chapters, for some reason, are about AWStats - I think the authors figured if they exposed you to a really low end free package you would appreciate the Google Analytics high end free package
Since I don’t actually have even one client who is using Google Analytics today, I was less moved to buy it right away - but since there really was not a good GA book, I think this is the one to own - and it helps you to learn a bit more about Web Analytics, in general.
I have been telling my artist friends to put Google Analytics on their sites - for a free package this is the best analytics money can’t buy. But, GA might be a little hard to work with from some people, and this book looks like it will help people become familar with all GA’s features and how to work with them.
Also telling is Amazon’s profile of users who viewed this item (the book) and ended up buying some other book:
62% buy the item featured on this page:Google Analytics by Mary E. Tyler $19.79
11% buyWeb Site Measurement Hacks (Hacks) by Eric T Peterson
$16.47

9% buyWeb Analytics Demystified: A Marketer’s Guide to Understanding How Your Web Site Affects Your Business by Eric Peterson
$37.77
8% buyWeb Metrics: Proven Methods for Measuring Web Site Success by Jim Sterne
$19.80
That’s an interesting metric - so far, 62% of people who came to the page for the Google Analytics book, ended up buying it! The only thing that’s missing…how many people looked at the page.
It’s also interesting that there’s a podcast that talks a lot about what is in the book, and it’s located here - I think you need ITunes to listen to it …what a drag! I hate it when your forced to use a platform to listen to a podcast - just make it into MP3 and let me worry about how to play it.
