The Shape of Song - diagrams of sound

Diagrams of site structure, diagrams of semantic analysis in web sites, all interesting stuff.  Now we have diagrams of music sound - something that reminds me of Walt Disney’s Fantasia (the original version).

The Shape of Song  takes Midi Files and draws digarams of their basic shapes (metrics?); it also allows you to take any Midi file that exists on line and draw it as diagram (see below).

String of Pearls by Miller has a different shape

The problem with a system like this (if it can be called a problem) - the parts of the music that are being abstracted don’t give me a picture of what the music sounds like - even though that’s what it’s intent is.  You can play Midi files on the site as well.

I can’t really tell if this is Bach or John Lennon - I don’t have any way to tie it back to something the music that’s unique.  It’s an interesting program - sort of a "semantic analysis charting program" except it’s for music instead of a website.
