Maybe I ought to check my StatMeter logs more often as I often pull out Jems! Too bad KMM only puts the free version that saves the last 100 visits only - on a fast traffic day I have gotten a hundred visits an hour, sometimes more. But on slower days like today, I have time to look at my logs in more detail.
Guess what I noticed?

I clicked on the second entry (I was curious how this visitor found my recent post on Seth Godin's Long Tail of Chris Anderson). I'm curious like that - maybe that's why I'm a Web Analyst as well as an artist. Here's what I found!

When I clicked on the Referring Url I got this page (below):
The first question is ..... is BuzzTracker a public tool or beta application that no one knows about yet? I don't know, but there's another BuzzTracker that also looks interesting at BuzzTracker.org and I'll look at that for my next post! For this post, I want to figure out more about the BuzzTracker I found via my referral logs.
It looks like Pro Tools Buzz Tracker is not a known about tool yet (maybe it's not even released yet). Great! I'll blog about it here - fair game. If a developer uses their own tool to track Buzz, find my site - it's fair game for me to call them on it. So here goes. BTW, I did sign up (register for an account - got an email - but when I tried to log in - I was not able to - I'm suspecting the tool is not yet ready for release).
Buzz Tracker, from Pronet Advertising, seems to be blog tracking software that's similar to BlogPulse but with a different interface. If there's a distiction maybe the developer (who will certainly discover this post) will contact me and tell me the distinctions between their tool and what BlogPulse does.
Some of the "widgets" in this diagram don't appear to work - or maybe I don't understand the tool yet. There always seems to be more posts (ie: 50 in this case) in the left. I'm assuming there slider bar functionality is to select Buzz that was happening on a certain date - but I'm not sure - as whatever I do I get the same results. If I select the 2 months or 4 months view, I seem to mess up the graph also; in that case, re-executing the query fixes the problem.
The Slider Bars (I did a search on Juan Enriquez, a well know author and client of mine that I met a couple of months back in Cambridge) appear to select a range of time from which to see Buzz about a subject, person, whatever.
I'm not sure the slider bar works as intended - and maybe the developer can come forward and explain what this tool does in detail and I'll be happy to post his/her reply here.

Marshall - To be honest I wasn't to happy to come across this blog post. You're right that it's fair game for you to post about it and I can't hold that against you. This tool is still very early in development and wasn't meant to be made public. Unfortnately now we will need to password protect it.
While I'm not the devloper of the tool and can't answer your specific questions I can tell you this tool is still in it' early stages and has lots of bugs. I can also tell you we have some very exciting features. I would love to fill you in as we get closer to launch.
Thanks.
