How Much Is My Blog Worth?

Find this tool very amusing!   Don’t know how accurate it is but here’s how my blog, www.webmetricsguru.com stacks up to some of the other blogs I read and have RSS feeds from:

  1. www.webmetricsguru.com is worth  $94,842.72 per year
  2. www.davidcorn.com            is worth   $323,481.42 per year
  3. www.rawstory.com               is worth   $2,180,818.02  per year
  4. www.dailykos.com               is worth    $6,347,687.76 per year
  5. www.battellemedia.com     is worth   $1,582,970.16  per year
  6. kaushik.net/avinash/        is worth   $19,758.90   per year

There’s some information on how the numbers are derived here.  What’s kinda weird is my blog is worth about 25% of what David Corn’s is!!!!!!  David Corn is a pretty influencial blogger.   John Battelle, another very important blogger who I have met twice, has a blog worth about 16 times what mine is worth.

How is this all figured out?  The answer is here

"In acquiring Weblogs Inc., AOL has now provided us with some numbers traditional media are willing to pay for a blog.  At the different rumored price points from AOL, it looks as follows:

Link $25 million value 30 million value 40 million value
1 $564.64 $677.57 $903.42

I don’t know if those values are based on any real rationale but it’s nice to dream up the value of one’s blog based on this.

Should we now assume that traditional media companies are willing to pay between $500 and $1000 per site that links into a blog?
