The Oracle of Ohama, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett , is giving a large portion of his over $37 billion estate to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Details of the Gift (see below). I found out about this via Yahoo Buzz but I actually also have another source - TheNewsMarket.com where I can download free videos of the event as a registered journalist / Blogger.
All of TheNewMarket.com video content is free and I actually saw the video show up over the last couple of days but I did not make the connection till I read about it in Yahoo Buzz. Natually I could not help but write about it.
"About the Gift
Warren Buffett has pledged a gift of 10 million class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway Corporation to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The current market value of the gift is approximately $31B. As the pledge letter explains, the gift will be payable in annual installments of 5% of the balance of the pledge shares outstanding. For example, in 2006, 500,000 shares will be contributed and in 2007, 475,000 shares (5% of the remaining 9,500,000 after the 2006 contribution) will be contributed. In subsequent years, the contribution will be equal to 5% of the remaining shares outstanding. The pledge requires that Bill or Melinda be actively involved in the management of the foundation. Details for the implementation of the gift are being finalized.
According to Yahoo Buzz, " On the heels of this gargantuan gift, searches on "philanthropy" surged, as did queries on "warren buffett biography." Investors worried about what the divine donation meant for Buffet's extensive holding company sent searches on "berkshire hathaway stock" off the charts. The recipients of the titanic influx also piqued searchers' interest, and buzz on "bill gates," "bill gates foundation," and "gates foundation" rocketed skyward. What are the philanthropic plans of two of the richest men on the face of the earth? It'll be interesting to trace the legacy of this largesse... (I wonder too)
Here's a streaming video of the 37 billion dollar donation philanthropy event from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
Ok, let's take a brief look at who is searching for these terms right now.
Looks like a lot of activity in the Blogosphere happened around June 20th, 2006 in connection with The Gates Foundation. Since the announcement was actually made on June 26th, what could this spike in traffic caused by? Duh! Actually, it was not the annoucement of the Berkshire Hathaway 37 billion dollar contribution that spiked interest in Bill Gates - it was his retirement from day to day activities at Microsoft.
Query :bill gates foundation - Gender: Female Age: 25~34 :
:0.43
:0.57
But does the query "bill gates foundation" match the reality of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation website? Yes it does, exactly. So people searching for Bill Gates foundation or MSN thinks they are and those searchers get exactly what they expect to find (information, streaming videos, whatever).
The location of the searchers was mainly in Dallas and Seattle ...hmm.
Would that be fund managers who are searching? I really don't know but I do wonder about it. Also, according to AdCenter, the the most interested Geo Demographic cluster segments are Prosperous Families, Yound Single people and Urban lower income people while the least interested are Prosperous and Modest Income Retired individuals.

Thanks for this information about Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
But not only billionnaires can help the poorest countries. It would be good to encourage more private companies to do so. I would like to mention here a new website of a non-profit NGO called Donationpixel.
Their goal is to collect money for different humanitarian projects around the world.
Their website offers the visibility of the donor - this could be interesting for many companies - the choice of the project and the country, and also the visibility of the work done in the field. They also give answers to different questions, like "Where goes my money?" or "what do they do with it?".
It seems to be an interesting new approach to encourage donations for vulnerables in poor countries. The URL is
http://www.donationpixel.org/
Maybe a new way to attract more donation.
Thanks for your attention.
