Last night I met Gregory Galant at the NY Podcast Meetup, and asked me what Podcasts I regularly listen to - told him the IMedia Summit Podcasts (all of them are listed here..in FTP format)….and many of these I have listened to recently (usually on my way to and from work).

Anyway, today ImediaConnection has one of Gregory Galant’s articles on Podcast Advertising, always an interesting subject since everyone it trying to figure out how to monotize podcasts just as they are trying to figure out how to monotize blogs.

The tips are about how to advertise on podcasts.

    1. Keep your message brief
    2. Vary your creative
    3. Don’t underestimate your audience
    4. Place your ads interstitially (don’t use pre- or post-roll)
    5. Don’t imitate broadcast radio

Most advertising on Podcasts don’t follow all 5 tips; in fact, the IMedia Podcasts put the ads for DoubleClick Adapt at the beginning of the Podcast, whereas, maybe they should have put it somewhere in the middle of it.

Also, people to listen to poscasts are hip and smart - so don’t underestimate their intelligence or intererst level.
