Microsoft’s adCenter Labs Demographic Prediction Demo weighs in on American Idol Popularity

Posted by Marshall on May 27, 2006 | Link It

I’m happy to see that Microsoft’s adCenter Demo labs are back up and many of the tools I looked at are now working again (they were offline when I last checked); these tools are the begining of the delivering the real power of Demographic profiling using search queries and searcher behavior.

Now, let’s apply it to American Idol and the individuals I wrote about, stars like Taylor Hicks, Katherine McPhee and second season superstar Clay Aiken in Idling In America - Search Trends from AdCenter , Idling In America II - Search Demographics from AdCenter and Idling In America III - Searcher Geolocation from AdCenter.

Based on the Microsoft adCenter Demographics Demo Clay Aiken most closely matches the American Idol demographic audience profile (see below).  Perhaps it’s one thing to win American Idol and then be marketed as an artist - and yet another thing to be the artist most in sync (alike) with the actual audience making up American Idol.

Then again, this is just a demo tool and we can’t know how accurate it is at this time.
