At the Syndicate Conference this week in New York (which I did not attend) it was announced that Edelman and Technorati will formally announce on Monday the details of "a system that will work across seven languages — PR agencies willl be able to watch seven languages, real time, for your clients," according to Richard Edelman.
I got this information from B.L. Ochman’s WhatsNextBlog.
"By that I believe he means you’ll be able to see translations of blog posts in seven languages. The question is, will they be machine or certified translations by literate humans? Machine translations are pretty laughable at this point". Edelman told Dave Weinberger about it during an interview at Syndicate earlier this week.
Readers of this blog might recall that I interviewed B.L. Ochman at SESNY06, a couple of months ago during a Blogger Lunch. I know B.L. Ochman lives in NY but I haven’t seen her at any other conferences I’ve attended recently though there’s a podcast from AD-Tech that I’ve downloaded to my IPod but haven’t listened to yet that has Ochman as one of the speakers.
Getting back to the 7 language PR blog search engine - it’s becoming more and more important to monitor buzz in several languages, and to reach out in multiple languages. In fact, if I had half a mind (as I sip a glass of deep red wine and chocolate at the Coco Bar in Park Slope while writing this tonight), I’d attend SES Miami in July which will be geared to the Hispanic Market.
My architect clients, particular Alan Mascord would benifit from an outreach from to the Hispanic community in California and Florida. In fact, my earlier research showed that one of his most popular house plan styles, "craftsman house plans", is searched for greatly in California, mostly by Hispanic Woman! I just did another search using AdCenter and it shows a much more spreadout picture with not much in California - but it does show a large preference for woman in this style of plan.

There’s really 4 basic groups to market to, Career and Family, Industrious Blue Collar, Smokestack Survivors and Metropolitan Strugglers.
Getting back to the 7 language blog search engine - if you can successfully go all the way (in content and offerings) with Hispanics you’ll have loyalty - because most marketers aren’t doing yet.
