Blogads Survey: ‘Multiple Blogospheres’

 There’s not one blogosphere - but 4 blogospheres, political, gossip, mom and musicm according to story in today’s MarketingVox.

"Some 72 percent of political blog readers are male; 77 percent have a college degree; over 20 percent have a household income between $60K and $90K. Though a younger bunch, music blog readers are more than 72 percent male. Some 86 percent have bought music online in the last six months, and 47 percent spent over $100; 70 percent bought books online, and 63 percent bought clothes".

"Some 77 percent of gossip blog readers are women, and half of them are age 22-30; more than 60 percent have a college degree; 68 percent purchased clothing online, and over 48 percent spent more than $100. Readers of motherhood and parenting-related blogs are 90 percent female; over 12 percent read five blogs daily; more than 17 percent spend two hours a week reading blogs; 72 percent bought clothes online in the last six months, and 46 percent spent over $100; 83 percent purchased books; 46 percent contributed to a cause or campaign; 23 percent bought toys.

More than 45 percent of mom blog readers are 22-30 years old; more than 73 percent have a college degree; over 21 percent have household income between $60K and $90K".

ClickZ actually goes further believes the BlogAds Survey shows the Blogosphere is braking out, fragmenting.  I find the last paragraph interesting

On one point many seem to agree: podcasts. Though often perceived as early-adopters of new media forms, most blog readers don’t listen to them. In fact, 62 percent of music blog readers, 75 percent of political blog readers, 77 percent of mom blog readers and 80 percent of gossip blog readers said they never listen to podcasts.

So the people who read blogs are not the same population that download and listen to Podcasts; that’s wierd.  You’d have think they’d be the same people.  If that’s the case, who’s downloading the Podcasts?
